Acting is not pretending, it’s not showing, it’s not emoting, it’s living truthfully under imaginary circumstances. The job of an actor is to take the make-believe and make it believable. We are not affected by someone’s impression of emotion, we only experience empathy when we see the real thing. We don’t pay to watch actors act, we pay to see a real person living. The world they live in is imagined, the circumstances fake, but everything the character experiences must be real or the audience cannot be affected.

The following lessons outline the various techniques required to help the actor overcome the problem of inauthentic behavior. After completing all of these lessons you will have the skills necessary to be believable in any circumstance.
